SpeechMaze Privacy Notice

Last updated: June 1, 2026

SpeechMaze is powered by TalkMaze Inc. ("TalkMaze", "we", "our", "us"). This notice covers data we collect specifically for the SpeechMaze competition. It supplements, and should be read alongside, our general TalkMaze Privacy Policy. Where this notice is silent, the general TalkMaze Privacy Policy applies.

Information We Collect for SpeechMaze

When you register a child for SpeechMaze, we collect: parent or guardian first and last name, child's first and last name, child's age, parent email and phone number, country or region of residence, school name (optional), and how you heard about the competition. For finalists, we also collect mailing address for prize shipping. For all participants we collect the Round 1 video submission and, for finalists, the Round 2 live recording.

How We Use SpeechMaze Information

We use this information to administer the competition (review submissions, organize the live event, ship prizes, notify finalists and winners), to communicate with parents about SpeechMaze and other TalkMaze programs, and for promotional, educational, and marketing purposes under the recording, name, photo, and video release in the SpeechMaze Terms.

Recordings, Names, Photos, and Video

By registering, the parent or legal guardian grants TalkMaze permission to record the live final and to use the participant's name, voice, photograph, and video for promotional purposes across TalkMaze and SpeechMaze channels (including the website, social media, email, advertising, and partner platforms such as YouTube). Full details are in the SpeechMaze Terms.

We do not publish a child's last name, school, or contact information in promotional materials without separate written consent.

Service Providers

We use the following service providers to run SpeechMaze: Google (for the Round 1 submission form and Google Drive video links), Mailchimp (for email communications), Zoom or a comparable video platform (for the live final), and standard hosting and analytics infrastructure (Vercel). Each receives only the data needed to perform its function and is bound by its own privacy and security obligations.

Children's Privacy

SpeechMaze is designed for children ages 5 to 14, but registration must be completed by a parent or legal guardian. We collect information about the child only through the registering adult and only as needed to run the competition. Parents may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their child's personal information at any time by emailing hello@talkmaze.com.

Retention

We retain registration data for as long as needed to run SpeechMaze, communicate with you about TalkMaze programs, and meet our legal and accounting obligations. You can request deletion of marketing data by unsubscribing from emails or contacting us at the address below.
